|Welcome to the Academic Couples Study. This is a study of the professional and personal lives of members of academic couples. Please read the following consent form before attempting to participate in this study. If you wish to participate in the study after reading the consent form, click on the button on the bottom of the page labeled Section One.
This study is an examination of various aspects of the professional and personal lives of members of academic couples. Your are eligible to participate in this study if both you and your partner are employed or are looking for employment as adjuncts, part-time or full-time faculty, researchers, or administrators at institutions of higher education. Theresa J. Brown, Professor of Psychology at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ is conducting this study. There is no deception involved in this study, it is minimal risk, and it has been approved by the Georgian Court University Human Subjects Review Board. Your participation is completely voluntary. Any data you submit will be treated in a confidential fashion. Any reports of the data from this study will be made at the group and not individual level. There is no compensation offered for your participation in the study. Please be aware that this study is not on a secure server, and there is a remote chance that a third-party might be able to view your data.
In order to participate in this study, you will need to respond to three separate web pages asking about partner and institutional support, demographic information, your level of satisfaction in various areas of your life (e.g., job satisfaction), and factors related to your productivity at work. On each of the web pages, you will be asked to enter a user ID. The user ID may be any combination of letters and/or numbers, but it must be between 4 and 8 characters in length. Please be certain to type it exactly the same on each page. This is the unique identifier that will be associated with your data. It will not be used to identify you; it will only be used to aggregate your data. Once you respond to a page, a confirmation page listing your responses will appear after you submit your data. Should you desire to change your responses, you will be able to return to the page and resubmit your data.
