Administrative / Leadership Experience in the Past Five Years
2009 Organized a conference on Invasive Species in Coastal Dunes and Maritime Forests which was held at Georgian Court in July 2009 (www.georgian.edu/dunes). Was responsible for inviting speakers, coordinating presentations (invited and submitted) and preparation of conference website and printed materials. Worked with Director of Special Events to oversee registration, accommodations and food services for the conference as well as hosting the conference itself.
2007-2009 Chaired Georgian Court’s Self Study Team for Middle States Standard 14: Institutional Assessment. Was primary author on this section of the report, compiling results and bringing together materials drafted by the various members to ensure one consistent voice and clear, linear information flow throughout. Presented report’s findings to visiting members of the assessment team and answered their questions.
Served as secretary of the Atlantic Estuarine Research Federation (AERS).
2007-2008 Served as chairperson and biology department representative to Georgian Court’s Science and Mathematics Curriculum Committee.
2007 Served as nominating officer of the Atlantic Estuarine Research Federation (AERS).
2006-2008 Due to illnesses of both my current and former chairpersons, over the past three years I have carried out many of the functions of department chair, including preparation of the department’s annual budget, finding and hiring adjunct faculty for undergraduate and graduate courses, and developing semester class schedules and overseeing classroom assignments for those classes.
2007-2008 Chaired Provost’s Committee on Retention, focusing on the role of extracurricular factors in retention at Georgian Court. Was lead author on the resulting report.
2006-2007 Chaired Foundations of Excellence, Faculty Dimension Committee. Was the lead author for the resulting Faculty Dimension Report
2004-2007 Chaired the Georgian Court Campus Community Committee. In addition to normal committee duties, was lead on two major surveys: One on Information Technology at GCU and the other on the GCU Bookstore
2006 Co-chaired the Georgian Court University Community Science Art Competition.
2003-2006 Organized “Undergraduate Research Night” (Later renamed “Academic Excellence Night”), a university wide celebration of student research at Georgian Court.
2004-2006 Served on the Research Standards Committee At that time this committee also served as Georgian Court’s Institutional Research Review Board (IRRB), ensuring that all research involving animal or human subjects at the University complied with State and National standards for the ethical treatment of such subjects.
2004-2006 Served as Member at Large of Georgian Court University’s Graduate Council. This committee oversees policy and curriculum issues within our Graduate Programs.
2005 Served on the planning committee for the design of the new science wing at GCU
