Guide to Local Attractions

Beach, Arcades, Aquarium, and Boardwalk at Point Pleasant (approx 20 minutes)

Leave campus and turn left onto 9th Street.  At second light, turn left onto Route 9 North.  At cemetery, turn right onto County Line Road.  Continue to end.  Turn left onto Lanes Mill Road.  Continue to end.  Turn right onto Burnt Tavern Road.  Approx 3 miles, turn left onto Route 88 East (Gas stations on three corners, liquor store on fourth) Go over canal bridge and turn left at first light onto Arnold Avenue.  It snakes around, goes through the town of Point Pleasant Beach and ends at the ocean.  There are municipal parking lots with meters on the right, many private pay lots, and free side street parking if you want to walk. Lifeguards are on duty from 9 am Ė 5:30 pm.

Beach badges can be purchased on the boardwalk.  Jenkinsonís and Martellís beaches have umbrellas and chairs to rent.  Wednesday evenings there are free concerts at Jenkinsons, featuring the Saint Peter by the Sea Orchestra.

Atlantic City Casinos

Leave campus and turn left onto 9th Street.  At second light, turn right onto Route 9 South.  Continue on Route 9 South approx 5 miles to the Garden State Parkway South (you will veer off to the right.)  Continue on the Parkway, 50 miles, approx 1 hour to exit  38, the Atlantic City Expressway East.  At the end of the Expressway, follow the signs to the Casino of your choice.  Note: both the Parkway and the Expressway are toll roads.

Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park, Safari, and Water Park

Leave campus and turn left onto 9th Street.  At first light, turn left onto Route 9 North.  Continue on Route 9 North approx 5 miles to Interstate 195 West.  Use Exit 16 (8 miles.)  Go west one mile on Monmouth County Route 537 to park entrance. 

Jackson Premium Outlets

Leave campus and turn left onto 9th Street.  At second light, turn left onto Route 9 North.  Continue on Route 9 North approx 5 miles to Interstate 195 West.  Use Exit 16 (8 miles.)  Go east 500 feet on Monmouth County Route 537 to parking lot.

Allaire State Park and Historic Village

Leave campus and turn left onto 9th Street.  At second light, turn left onto Route 9 North.  Continue on Route 9 North approx 5 miles to Interstate 195 East.   Exit at 31B Farmingdale - Allaire State Park exit.). Upon exiting you will be on County Route 547 North. At the first traffic light, 0.3 miles after exiting Interstate 195, turn right onto County Route 524 / Allaire Rd. A Chevrolet car dealership will be on the right at the corner of the traffic light. Proceed on County Route 524 / Allaire Rd. for 0.7 miles and the entrance to Allaire State Park, The Historic Village at Allaire and Pine Creek Railroad will be on the right.
