Georgian Court has a commitment to excellence in both the pure sciences and science education.  One of the ways in which we express that commitment is by developing unique curricula for area teachers.  As well as helping out local teachers, this allows us to provide GCU science education students with opportunities to build their skills in developing and delivering creative and innovative class materials to students in area schools.  Currently we have two environmental education initiatives underway within my research group.

The first of these is co-directed by S. Mary Bilderback (Biology).  This initiative is designed to raise awareness of the need for water conservation in the Barnegat Bay region. The second is connected to my research on invasive plants, and is co-directed by Dr. Claire Gallagher (education).  This project involves the creation of an integrated curriculum unit for middle school students centered around the invasive plant Phragmites australis.
