Many of us no longer possess a "winter" and "summer" wardrobe. We expect to wear the same clothes year round. In the winter, turn down the thermostat a few degrees, and wear a sweater if you’re cold. In the summer turn up the thermostat on the Air Conditioner, and wear light-weight clothes. If you turn your thermostat down two degrees in winter and up two degrees in the summer you can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide produced by 2,000 pounds. As a result, even a few degrees difference can make a real difference to energy use, and thus to the environmental impact of your life style. About 40 percent of a typical homeowner’s energy use is taken up by heating and cooling, so these small changes could save you money too! http://www.earthday.net/climatechangesolutionsathome.pdf http://green.yahoo.com/news/livescience/20080422/sc_livescience/10waysyoucanimproveearthshealth.html |
